There are many that voted for Obama in the last election simply because as someone who enjoys the sport of poker, they felt that he could empathize with what they are feeling. Many voted for him and his running mate because they seemed like the kind of guys that would actually play online with them, and thought they stood a chance of getting it legalized. However, there has been no statements from the administration as to when they might make that a priority and they know that if Republicans get in the White House next time that online casino gambling will not be even considered in terms of legalization.

But a recent summit that came together ? the Digital Gaming and Lottery policy 2011 brought together many policymakers, gambling operators, lottery providers, etc. to discuss how policy was going to be changed so that Internet gambling was now legal again and players could play casino games for real money. They talked about the fact that the government was liable to go after the states like Nevada and NJ that were looking to offer intrastate online gambling, and that they would end up falling into the same categories as Full Tilt and the other poker sites that got in trouble did. They came to the consensus that the government was going to have to change their tune, and quickly, because if they try that the people and governments of those states are going to quickly rebel.

The change in the weather in terms of the reports from the Department of Justice will limit them in some of their dealings with the states, but many feel that it was not nearly enough. Those that want to see online casino gambling legalized say that the Department of Justice just made it legal for states to offer it on an intrastate level. However, others say that the decision that they made has nothing to do with that, and that it is still illegal for the states to offer it. There is fighting within the states themselves between those that would like to push forward and make it a reality and those that are hanging on to the old laws that say that they cannot.

The fact of the matter is that it looks as though, on the surface at least, that states can handle it on an individual basis. But this simply means more red tape for them to jump through, and many regulations that have to be put in place before they can even consider offering it. They have to ensure that they do not allow players from other states to join in or they will be finished.
