The Marin Foundation Featured on BBC World News

A few days ago the BBC World News featured the work of The Marin Foundation in written and audio form! Above is a screenshot I took of the BBC?s home page on their website? And that?s us as the feature story! It?s been crazy since it went live. We have gotten tons of folks reaching out from all over the world. This impact of our story is being felt! It?s such a humbling thing to have happen, and it?s definitely surreal to know that our bridge building message is getting spread across the globe through the most internationally trusted media company in existence. Just unreal.

You can read the full article here

You can listen to the 30 minutes segment the BBC ran on us here?(and you have about 30 days to download it to keep it if you want)

Yesterday I got an email from the BBC and they gave me the following, crazy, update about our stories since they went live:

?Our radio segment (which has also been featured throughout America on NPR) is the most listened to segment of any from the BBC World Service

?Our radio segment is the most downloaded segment of any from the BBC World Service

?Our article is the 2nd most shared article of any story on any of the BBC websites

?Our article is the 3rd most read article on any of the BBC websites

I have to thank Christopher Landau so very much. He was the producer of the segment, as well as the writer of the article. Christopher was the one who fought for this story to be done! Even after some higher-ups said no to his initial proposal, he kept at it over almost 1 full year (!!!!) before they finally said yes. And now look what is happening! Brenda and I first met Christopher while I was speaking in London earlier this year. He had read my book when it first released in 2009 and as he said, ?kept it in the back of my head to do a story on it for just this time.?

I?m not the most trusting person when it comes to media folks? They never seem to quite tell the truth in how they are going to present or edit something. But Christopher did exactly what he said he was going to do. A stand up man. A balanced journalist. And now a person ever so dear to not only my heart, but the millions his work has reached around the world.

Just absolutely amazing what the Lord is doing with this.

No matter the outcome, faithfulness always wins out.

Much love.

Another New Guy =D

1) What's your username? Why'd you pick that username? Well I used this name for years, between using it on AIM and as my primary e-mail for years it just kinda came natural to me I guess. Before anyone ends up taking it any way it's not intended to be taken, it does mean football boy 23. I made the account back when I was very young in a flag football program(american football that is), and my number at the time was 23.

2) How'd you find this place? Google? Why'd you look it up on Google or whatever? Yes, I did find it through google :P I was feeling lucky so to say. I was looking it up on google because I was trying to find another place to roleplay and express my ideas.

3) How long have you roleplayed on forums or chat? On what sites? Did you start with tabletop games or such? I started roleplaying in chatrooms and an anime-based chat RPG. I've been doing it for roughly 10 years and I'm 20 now so -shrug-

4) In coming to RPG, what've you been looking for specifically? A new home for roleplay? Better roleplay? I would say a combination of both. I only have 1 roleplay partner who I can sit and enjoy roleplaying with because most of the other people I couldn't enjoy RP'ing with due to lack of skill or however you would want to classify it.

5) What kinds of roleplay are you interested in? Fantasy? Sci-fi? Go in-depth about it if you want. When it comes to subject of roleplaying it comes down to my mood really. Sometimes I like to do futuristic sci-fi based roleplays, other times fantasy based roleplays, and even modern type roleplays now and again.

6) What're your hobbies? Do you collect rocks or mount insects? I am currently a college student and active video game player, as far as hobbies, I'll get back to ya :P

7) What's something you're good at besides writing? Maybe you're on the volleyball team or you're a quick learner? Maybe you play the flute or can fold up chairs amazingly fast? Well I played football for four years in highschool, two of which I had started for varsity. I had good potential at the offensive line and even some college offers and scholarships that I had turned down regrettably, but I have also been looking into possibly joining a semi-professional team in my area. I also like to think I have a knack for music and rapping in particular, I just find stimulation and challenge in rhyming words and creating meaning from them with a beat in the background to guide the story along.

8) Do you have any friends here at RPG that invited you here? Would you want to make more friends while you're here? I would defiantly like to meet more friends while roleplaying on this site but unfortunately I don't know anyone here yet (but hopefully that will change very quickly.)

9) Do we get cookies for looking through your thread and saying hello? Cookies are most defiantly encouraged and welcome. =D

To end this thread I thought I might try and show everyone an example of my roleplaying so I figured I would show a small example using a character I created (who was actually my first) in a fantasy type setting.

Linshon, a man with a mysterious past, entered through the door. His gloved touch pushing past the wooden door as it swung open, the brisk air filling the bar as his hooded head overshadowed most of his face. The tall man stood at 6' 1 with small streaks of black silky hair revealing themselves through the hood, his black leather jacket with different metal fixtures clinking as his stride toward the bar began. With a long slim sword sheathed behind him, hanging from his back, he approached the empty stool as the bar maid made her way toward him while shining a glass with a clean rag. "What'll ya have?" He heard as he pulled the hood from his crown, his full facial structure now revealed in the light. He had a medium sized scar running along his cheek that only made his image more intimidating, anyone with half a wit knowing it was from a blade.

After he ordered his fix of a bottle, he turned toward the crowd, some gazes fixed upon him while other trying to avoid him completely. He watched in confidence and undisturbed tranquility as a bulkier male approached him. "Not tonight....not tonight...not tonight..." he kept thinking to himself as the burly man continued his advance. Linshon shook his head at the arrival and stood to meet his eye contact. After a brief hostile conversation between the two, of which the larger man initiated, he heard the word's "Get out", followed by a grip on his left bicep. "You first." Linshon spoke as he countered the grasp and swung the man around in a 360 degree spin, using his body-weight to counter the man's to fling him across the room. A fighter's spirit had taken over him once more and he knew the events to come, it was a difficult thing for him to control. As the man landed, Linshon's jacket quickly landed to the ground, his white tight v-neck t-shirt revealing a toned muscular structure as his dark eyes were now affixed to the man. After the gentlemen stood again, Linshon noticed that now he was outnumbered as a few allies of his began surrounding him. "And to think, I thought I was going to have a challenge tonight." Linshon repeated as his eyes gaze shot between all of the opponents. "Well then?" He continued as something began to glow, his hands had began to emit a red light from them, the glow radiating heat as he sat still, just awaiting the first strike to ignite the fire.

China Launches 1st Space Lab Module Into Orbit for Docking Tests (SPACE.com)

China successfully launched its first space lab module into orbit in an impressive nighttime display today (Sept. 29).

The unmanned Tiangong 1 module lifted off on a Chinese Long March 2F rocket at 9:16 p.m. Local Time (1316 GMT/9:16 a.m. EDT) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. The spacecraft launched just days before China's National Day holiday, which occurs Saturday (Oct. 1).

"It?s absolutely an accomplishment," said Victoria Samson of the Secure World Foundation, an organization dedicated to the peaceful use of outer space. However, Samson, director of the foundation's Washington office, added that the launch of Tiangong 1 represents an achievement that other countries, including the United States, managed decades ago. [Gallery: Tiangong 1, China's First Space Laboratory]

"They're doing their version of Spacelab, but that's something we did back in the '70s," she said.

The Tiangong 1 module, which is expected to remain in orbit for two years, is considered an important steppingstone in the country's effort to construct its own crewed space station. The prototype space lab measures 34 feet (10.4 meters) long and 11 feet (3.35 meters) wide and weighed about 8.5 metric tons on Earth.?

"The main tasks of [the] Tiangong 1 spaceflight include: to provide a target vehicle for space rendezvous and docking experiment; to primarily establish a manned space test platform capable of long-term unmanned operation in space with temporary human attendance, and thus accumulate experiences for the development of the space station; to carry out space science experiments, space medical experiments and space technology experiments," China's Manned Space Engineering office spokeswoman Wu Ping told reporters yesterday (Sept. 28) at the launch site, according to a translation provided by the office.

Tiangong 1, which translates to "Heavenly Palace," will test docking technology in conjunction with three spacecraft ? Shenzhou 8, Shenzhou 9 and Shenzhou 10 ? that will be launched at a later date, according to state media reports. These planned robotic maneuvers will be China's first dockings in orbit.

The Shenzhou 8 spacecraft will launch in early November, with Shenzhou 9 to follow in 2012. Both flights will be unmanned docking trials. The Shenzhou 10 mission, also in 2012, may carry a crew to Tiangong 1, a team that could also include China's first female astronaut, Chinese space officials said.

Tiangong 1 is also carrying medical and engineering experiments into space, according to state media. It is packed with 300 flags from the International Astronautical Federation, to commemorate the mission.

While Chinese space officials have indicated that the launch of Shenzhou 8 could occur in early November, but it's possible the unmanned mission could lift off sooner, said Dean Cheng, a research fellow on Chinese political and security affairs at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative public policy think tank.

"The Chinese have put up launches within days of each other," Cheng told SPACE.com. "But we don?t have a good indication as to exactly when it will go up."

The launch of Tiangong 1 is considered a milestone for China and its burgeoning space program. It is particularly important for China's space program after last month's failure of a Long March 2C rocket, which malfunctioned shortly after liftoff and did not reach orbit. [Related: US & China: Space Race or Cosmic Cooperation?]

"It?s probably going to be a big deal in China, with lots of news coverage," Cheng said. "You?d probably have to make an effort to avoid it. Once this is launched, you are going to have just a huge amount of hoopla from the state-run media to remind the people of what is going on."

An investigation into the Long March 2C malfunction delayed plans to launch Tiangong 1. Today's successful launch using a similar booster, the Long March 2F, marks an important step toward fulfilling the country's goal of building a 60-ton manned space station by the year 2020. China is only the third nation, after the United States and Russia, to independently launch humans into orbit. China's first manned mission, Shenzhou 5, was piloted by Yang Liwei on Oct. 15, 2003. Two more manned missions followed, in 2005 and 2008.

Rocket launches from Alaska with Navy satellite (AP)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska ? A rocket launched from an Alaska island Tuesday is carrying an experimental Navy satellite designed to provide safer combat communications.

The satellite will allow troops with radios to communicate without the need to position antennas in dangerous settings, said Peter Wegner, director of the Department of Defense's Operationally Responsive Space Office.

The liftoff from the state-owned Kodiak Launch Complex for the Naval Research Laboratory project is for a yearlong mission. The system will be assessed after that period to determine if it should become permanent, Wegner said, after the satellite was sent up inside the nose of a Minotaur IV rocket.

"With this system you can stay in a covered area and pull out your radio and communicate with headquarters," he said. "It really is, I think, a huge potential life saver."

The orbit to be taken by the satellite is oval instead of round, giving longer periods of communications coverage in crucial areas, such as the Middle East. Wegner said the satellite is designed to circle the globe three times a day on average, providing seven- to- eight hours of coverage for troops who may get just a tiny fraction of that now from other satellites.

"If you're deployed in a mountainous region of Afghanistan today and you're a special operations team, you may get one 15-minute period of radio coverage in a day," he said.

The Office of Naval Research sponsored the project development and the first year of operations.

The total mission cost is $190 million, including the $45 million launch, which was conducted by the Air Force, Wegner said.

The commercial launch complex on Kodiak Island, about 275 miles southwest of Anchorage, is operated by the Alaska Aerospace Corp. and provides access to space for government and commercial interests.

The last rocket launch from the Kodiak complex occurred in November 2010 and involved sending small satellites to orbit. Past launches have also included drone rockets being used by the Missile Defense Agency to test the accuracy of the country's missile defense system. That testing is now done in Kwajalein Atoll in the South Pacific, eliminating much of the business of the Kodiak complex, which is seeking new customers.

The next launch is tentatively set for September 2013 and would involve aerospace companies including Lockheed Martin Corp. to send up small satellites for customers.

"There are others we are talking with," said Alaska Aerospace Corp. CEO Dale Nash.

Tuesday's blastoff occurred in clear, ideal weather, Nash said.

"It was a gorgeous launch, incredible launch," he said.

Ground crews were able to track the rocket's orbit except for an expected communications gap over the Pacific Ocean, where no ship-based antennas were available, Wegner said. The operations room was pretty tense during the 20-minute blackout, then communications resumed in Santiago, Chile.

"Everybody cheered and clapped and breathed a sigh of relief," Wegner said.

A year of Stuxnet: Why is the new cyberweapon's warning being ignored?

Experts called Stuxnet a 'wake-up call' when it was identified as a cyberweapon. But even as hackers study it, there is scant evidence US utilities are bolstering their defenses against attack.

A cyberterrorist, foreign nation, or maybe just a hacktivist who wants all Internet information to be free, puts the lights out in a major American city with the click of a mouse button. For weeks.

That may sound like the stuff of a movie script, yet it is precisely the kind of nasty threat posed by Stuxnet, which one year ago emerged as the world's first publicly confirmed example of a digital guided missile. It was built to cross cyberspace, zero in on a real-world computer-controlled target ? and physically destroy it.

Garden-variety computer viruses may steal your bank password, but Stuxnet is by design a military-grade cyberweapon ? a computer ?worm? built by an advanced cyberweapons state. It was designed to seek out and destroy Iran's nuclear-fuel refining centrifuges, and it wrecked at least 1,000 of them. But its implications go much further.

Hackers, cybercriminals, or rogue nations can now download Stuxnet off the Internet and reverse engineer it ? using its tricks as a digital template for crafting malicious software attacks that wreck industrial infrastructure, cybersecurity experts say.

Inspired by Stuxnet's success, hackers are now known to be tinkering with Stuxnet code, say experts interviewed for this story. Iran also has Stuxnet now ? as do other aspiring cyberweapons nations. Some experts call it a ?Pandora's box? now loose on the Internet.

A year ago, US officials and cybersecurity experts dubbed Stuxnet a ?game changer? and a ?wake-up call.? Yet there is scant evidence today that the warning shot has been heeded ? or that power plants, refineries, water treatment or chemical facilities in the US are leaping to bolster their defenses against a ?son of Stuxnet? copycat attack, these experts say. Nor are the manufacturers of the software and hardware used in industrial control systems doing enough to make their systems less vulnerable, the experts say.

?Probably the best thing Stuxnet did was to raise awareness among senior executives at large companies and industrial control system vendors,? says Robert Huber, co-founder of Critical Intelligence, an Idaho Falls-based industrial control systems security firm. ?But that awareness has not translated to a shift in dollars spent on security by control system software vendors or [electric] utilities. There?ve been no significant changes in how they operate.?

Among computer security experts in critical infrastructure industries in 14 counties, two-fifths reported they had found Stuxnet on their systems, according to a survey this spring by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and McAfee. Among those, nearly half in the electric industry ? which had the highest occurrence of Stuxnet ? reported having to take action against Stuxnet.

Despite this high penetration, those critical infrastructure companies did little to respond by adding security technology to detect and stop similar threats in the future. The discovery of Stuxnet on their systems ?did not seem to galvanize companies to action,? the survey said. Fewer than 20 percent of US critical infrastructure companies even bothered conducting cybersecurity audits.

Amos Wayne Richards Breaks Leg, Survives 4 Days In Utah Desert

By JOSH LOFTIN, Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY -- A North Carolina man crawled four days across the Utah desert after breaking his leg on a solo hike, inspired by a Hollywood movie about a man who cut off his own arm to save himself after being trapped by a boulder in the same canyon.

Amos Wayne Richards, 64, of Concord, North Carolina, is now recovering at home. He said he was inspired to hike Little Blue John Canyon after he saw the Oscar-nominated movie "127 Hours" but fell 10 feet (three meters) during his trek on Sept. 8.

Canyonlands National Park rangers found Richards four days later. Along with the leg injury, he dislocated his shoulder but was able to work it back into place.

"It took me about 3 or 4 minutes to work my shoulder and get it back in place, and once I got it back in place, I stood up and realized my ankle hurt a little bit," Richards told WBTV in Charlotte last week after his story started getting the attention of national TV news networks.

Without cellphone service and only two protein bars to eat, Richards began crawling back to his car across the rocky terrain. He filled his water bottles with rain as he painstakingly retraced his steps, eventually dragging himself almost five miles (eight kilometers).

"I was actually following my GPS, crawling right on top of my feet print that I had hiked in on," Richards said.

Rangers first began looking for Richards Sept. 9 after his campsite was found unattended, said Denny Ziemann, chief ranger for Canyonlands and Arches national parks. They discovered his car two days later at the trailhead for Little Blue John Canyon, which is part of the Canyonlands remote and rugged Maze District but technically outside park boundaries.

"The search was pretty quick and dirty" once they realized where Richards had gone hiking, Ziemann said. Within hours, a helicopter spotted Richards ? who used the flash on his camera to catch the pilot's attention ? only a couple of miles (kilometers) from his car.

Richards was treated for the shattered leg and dehydration at a hospital in Moab, Utah, before returning to North Carolina to recover.

Ziemann said the result could have been much worse for Richards because he went hiking alone and without telling anybody about his plans. Temperatures in the region were in the 80s Fahrenheit (upper 20s Celsius) during the day and 60s F (upper teens C) at night.

"We make a lot of rescues of people, but we usually know where they are," Ziemann said. "They were either hiking with somebody and got hurt or if they were hiking alone, they told people where they were going."

In 2003, climber Aron Ralston hiked into the same canyon also without telling anyone his plans. He became trapped by a boulder and was forced to cut off his own arm to free himself. Ralston went on to detail his struggles in a book. His story was later adapted into "127 Hours."

A shorter course of radiation treatment that delivers higher doses of radiation per day in fewer days (hypofractionation) is as effective in decreasing intermediate to high-risk prostate cancer from returning as conventional radiation therapy at five years after treatment, according to a randomized trial presented at the plenary session, October 3, 2011, at the 53rdAnnual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

"This long-term study confirms that hypofractionated radiation that shortens treatment by about two and a half weeks is a practical approach to effectively controlling prostate cancer, as compared to the more standard treatment for men with intermediate to high-risk prostate cancer," Alan Pollack, MD, chairman of radiation oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, said.

The strategy to compress treatment schedules using hypofractionation is based on years of studies indicating that there could be a radiobiologic advantage to this approach. Prior research has indicated that tumor cells would be killed to a greater degree with hypofractionation than the potentially damaging effects on the surrounding normal tissues, namely the rectum, penile structures affecting erections and bladder. Another newer approach to hypofractionation incorporated into this trial is the use of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), which further limits dose to the normal tissues. IMRT has proven value in limiting side effects in the treatment of prostate cancer with external beam radiotherapy.

The study involved 303 men with intermediate to high-risk prostate cancer who were randomized to receive either hypofractionated IMRT or conventionally fractionated IMRT between 2002 and 2006. The high risk patients also received a form of hormone therapy for two years. The patients were followed for over five years to find out if their cancer returned by monitoring prostate specific antigen (PSA), a blood test and established indicator of prostate cancer recurrence when increasing levels are seen.

Dr. Pollack said, "we are still learning how best to apply hypofractionation and the results in this trial show that the technique is very effective."

The hypofractionation approach used was given in a shorter period of time with higher doses per day and was expected to be equivalent to four extra treatments using conventional fractionation. While the hypofractionation treatment was hypothesized to be superior, the same tumor control rates were observed. The conventionally fractionated patients had better outcomes than expected. The benefit of the hypofractionation method used was that comparable results were achieved in two and a half fewer weeks of treatment.

In terms of side effects, the rates were relatively low for both methods. There were identical long-term rates of bowel/rectal reactions and the frequency of unsatisfactory erections. There was, however, significantly higher bladder control in the conventionally fractionated patients.

"Late urinary symptoms were higher with hypofractionation but were low overall, particularly when the incidence of persistent urinary symptoms (

Activists say they set fire at Idaho fur seller

(AP) ? Animal rights activists said they pumped fuel into an Idaho fur and fireworks retailer before setting the place ablaze early Monday, and federal agents said they were taking the claim seriously.

Jerry Vlasak, a spokesman for the North American Animal Liberation Press Office in Los Angeles, said he received a message from activists shortly after the fire began at the Rocky Mountain Fireworks & Fur Co., on Monday morning.

"A hole was drilled into their storage space, and several gallons of fuel were pumped through, as well as multiple other charges being set beneath an adjoining structure," Vlasak said, citing the message. "Ignition devices were set to finish up our work, once we were safely on our way."

In addition to fireworks, the business in Caldwell, outside Boise, buys coyote and bobcat pelts and sells trapping supplies, including equipment that helps drown beavers. It also sells knives, predator calls and scents to help lure bobcats.

The fire was reported at about 5 a.m. Idaho Highway 30 and a U.S. Interstate 84 exit were closed down. There were no injuries.

The activists said they belonged to a group called "The Arson Unit" and could have ties to the Animal Liberation Front, Vlasak said. They warned that the store must close its doors permanently.

"Stay in business, and we'll be back," their message said.

Radical activist groups including the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front have been blamed for a string of 17 arsons across the West dating back more than a decade, including at ski resorts in Colorado and university laboratories in Washington state. Fourteen people have been convicted of crimes related to those fires. Such groups have been classified as domestic terror threats by the FBI.

A Utah animal rights activist in July pleaded guilty to two federal charges stemming from a pair of 2010 arson fires in the Salt Lake City area, one at the Tandy Leather Factory and another at a restaurant that served a disputed goose liver dish.

Federal agents on Monday weren't dismissing the activist group's claims of responsibility, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Donna Sellers said. Evidence has been collected from the blaze to be analyzed at one of the agency's laboratories, she said.

"ATF does take the communique seriously," she said. "The claim of responsibility by Animal Liberationists is a lead in this investigation."

The FBI also said it's helping track down leads.

"We are assisting the ATF to see if there's a connection to domestic terrorism," said Deborah Bertram, an FBI spokeswoman in Salt Lake City.

Vlasak, whose office helps to publicize the illegal activities of activists, said he had no direct knowledge that the activists actually set the Idaho fire. But he said similar statements in past attacks on fur farms or businesses have had merit. He declined to say exactly how he received Monday's message.

"Somebody with a shop full of fireworks and fur at the same time is just kind of asking for it," Vlasak told the AP on Monday, adding that while he supports such actions, "there's a firewall between those who are actually willing to break the law to help animals, and those of us who are just serving as a press office."

The fire was contained quickly and without significant damage to fireworks or fur articles. Investigators believe the fire was "suspicious and incendiary," Caldwell fire marshal Andrew Cater said.

India flight-tests 750 km-range Shourya missile

Last updated on: September 24, 2011?16:47 IST

India on Sunday flight-tested state-of-the-art nuclear capable 'Shourya' missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur off Orissa coast, about 15 km from Balasore.

?

The surface-to-surface missile took off from an underground silo at the launch complex-3 in the ITR at about 1428 hours, defence sources said.

?

It was the second developmental trial of the missile. The first test of the missile was successfully conducted on November 12, 2008 from the same base, they said.

?

"This developmental flight trial is part of the on-going technology refinement work undertaken by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO)," said a defence official.

?

The sophisticated missile combines simplicity of operation with low maintenance. It can be easily handled, transported and stored within the canister for longer shelf life, he said.Click on NEXT to read further...

Last updated on: September 24, 2011?16:47 IST

The high manoeuvrability of the missile makes it less vulnerable to available anti-missile defence systems.

Shourya, which can carry a one-tonne nuclear and conventional warhead over 750 kilometers, is powered by 2-stage solid fuel.

?

"We have designed the Shourya missile in such a manner that it can be launched from under water as easily as from land. The gas-filled canister that houses the missile fits easily into a submarine. The underwater leg of the nuclear trial needs to be totally reliable and needs a state-of-the-art missile," said a defence scientist associated with the project.

?

As a safety measure, prior to the test, Balasore district administration had temporarily evacuated 400 families residing within 2 km radius of the launch pad to nearby shelter camps early Saturday morning.

(AP) ? Pale, thin and dressed in a red jail uniform, a Harvard University-educated biology professor pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to capital murder charges Thursday in the slayings of three colleagues killed during a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Amy Bishop, who was mostly silent during a hearing, looked down at a table as one of her lawyers entered the pleas on her behalf. She also pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to attempted murder charges in the shootings of three other colleagues who were wounded but survived.

Circuit Judge Alan Mann set Bishop's trial for March 19 and told attorneys not to expect any delays.

Defense lawyer Roy Miller talked briefly with Bishop after the hearing before uniformed officers led her back to jail, where the mother of four is being held without bond.

"You ok?" asked Miller, who has described the woman as paranoid in media interviews.

"Yes," Bishop replied quietly, her short black hair tucked behind her ears.

Bishop is accused of pulling a gun out of her purse and opening fire during a February 2010 faculty meeting, killing three professors and wounding three other colleagues. Police and people who knew Bishop have described her as being angry over the school's refusal to grant her tenure, a decision that effectively would have ended her employment in the biology department at UAH.

After the killings, Bishop also was charged with killing her teenage brother in Massachusetts in a shooting that originally was ruled an accident in 1986.

Court officials said evidence about the Massachusetts slaying could become an issue in the Alabama trial should Bishop take the stand or if defense experts testify about her mental state and psychological history. Defense lawyers haven't indicated whether Bishop wants to testify.

Mann ruled on several defense motions, including a defense request to seal the case from public view and keep spectators out of pretrial proceedings. While Mann initially sealed court records, he reversed himself during the hearing and said most documents would now be open to the public.

The gunfire killed Bishop's boss, biology department chairman Gopi Padila, plus professors Maria Ragland Davis and Adriel Johnson. Professors Joseph Leahy and staff aide Stephanie Monticciolo are still recovering from head wounds, and assistant professor Luis Cruz-Vera also was shot and wounded.

While not revealing much of the prosecution strategy, District Attorney Rob Broussard said he doesn't plan to show jurors clothes worn by the victims, who were seated around a conference table when shots rang out. He also said his office would not attempt to use evidence about Bishop's past "bad acts and crimes" during its main case, but could attempt to do so later if needed.

Broussard said his office has lots of physical evidence about the shootings, including many documents and photographs, and had provided everything it was required to turn over to the defense.

Miller said it appeared that prosecutors had done a good job of providing Bishop's side with evidence, but added: "Judge, we more or less have to take their word on it." Mann told prosecutors to be forthcoming with evidence "so that's not an issue later on."

The Net Space Profits Program A New ... - - Web Development Blog

You can find so many people as of late turning toward the Internet in order to make the extra money that they require. When beginning on the Internet there are many people that just don?t know the best way to get started. This has lead to individuals buying tons of programs that claim to show them how to make money on the Internet. The problem is that most of the programs that individuals sell online for teaching individuals how to make money are just a waste of money. And because of all the products that are a waste of money it can be hard to find real programs. The ?Net Space Profit? system is a system we?ll be examining in this article.

This is a completely new way of making money online, because it does not use any of those old methods that people are still telling you to use. In fact this program is half an online business and half a real world business. An element that sets this program aside from all of those other online business programs is that you are told straight away what this business is. Tyler Ericsson created this program and he also gives you 43 websites which can help you to get started with this business.

Allow me to explain to you how precisely this system functions. First you would build a website based around an off line business. Essentially if you live in Albany NY, you might create a site like ?florist in Albany?. When you follow this system you?ll be shown how to get your site on the very first page of the major search engines. After you get the very first page ranking this system shows you how to earn money from it. Fundamentally you will take this website and rent out the site space to neighborhood businesses. Now all you must do is to locate a florist in Albany that would be interested in renting out your high ranking site. It should not take you too much time to get someone to rent the space as this is a thing that many real life companies would want.

As I pointed out before, this program offers you 43 websites in various business niches. Additionally, you will be very happy to know that this program incorporates a easy to follow system so you will be ready to go very quickly. Which means that you are given everything you need in order to get up and running in your new business.

The program itself will cost you $34, and is only available on the web. While it may seem that the price is incredibly low, don?t let that stop you because this is really a comprehensive business plan that anyone can put in to use. Another thing you will like about this system is that if you learn it isn?t for you, you can simply ask for a refund since it has a full money back guarantee. So you can buy the system and utilize it for sixty days and if for any reason you are not happy, or you feel that the system is just not for you, you can get your money back.

(AP) ? Moammar Gadhafi's former prime minister has been arrested in Tunisia, officials said, as Libya's new rulers and NATO warned the fugitive leader and his loyalists that they are running out of places to hide.

Al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi was arrested overnight with two other people after they were found without visas in the southern town of Tameghza, near Tunisia's border with Algeria, ministry spokesman Hichem Meddeb said Thursday. The three were appearing in court to face charges of illegal entry into Tunisia, the spokesman said.

Al-Mahmoudi is not among the former Gadhafi allies being sought by the International Criminal Court.

Gadhafi remains at large, and his whereabouts unknown. His supporters remain well-armed and fighting is still raging on three fronts in Libya a month after revolutionary forces seized control of the capital, Tripoli and brought down his regime.

The Canadian general commanding NATO's mission in Libya said that isolated groups of Gadhafi supporters continue to be a threat to local people but are unable to coordinate their actions.

Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard said in a conference call with reporters that many Gadhafi forces are surrounded with no way out. On Wednesday, NATO's decision-making body, the North Atlantic Council, granted approval to extend the mission for another 90 days. Without an extension, permission for the operation would have expired Sept. 27.

"We are now at a point where I can only urge regime forces to surrender, to bring an end to these activities," Bouchard said.

Despite their isolation, the general said, Gadhafi's forces "are still dangerous ... and violence against the population continues."

Bouchard said he had no idea where Gadhafi was hiding.

Government forces this week have made inroads against Gadhafi loyalists in Sabha, the last major city in Libya's far south on a key road leading to the border with Niger.

"Well, I don't think there are too many places left in Libya for regime forces to go," Bouchard said. "The (Gadhafi) forces are no longer capable of coordinated action anywhere in the country. ... What we are now witnessing is tactical, very localized action."

Libya's new rulers insist the holdouts in Gadhafi's hometown of Sirte, Bani Walid and Sabha are die-hard supporters, including many who escaped Tripoli, and believe they have no choice but to resist or face war-crimes charges.

A military spokesman for the National Transitional Council, Col. Ahmed Bani, said the revolutionaries had unconfirmed information that Gadhafi had been in Sabha but escaped.

Bani also warned the holdouts that it was only a matter of time before revolutionary forces secure the country. He claimed former rebels had captured key areas in the southern desert, including the towns of Hun, Waddan, Zalaa and most of Sabha, although they still faced pockets of resistance.

"Resistance is hopeless," he said at a news conference. "Now they are just fighting for themselves, they are not fighting on the tyrant's behalf."
